IT Business Analyst

SUMMARY OF JOB

The IT Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between IT and business units by adeptly understanding and translating customer requirements into efficient IT solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in business process analysis, systems analysis, and data analysis, coupled with a proven ability to develop and optimize processes to align with business objectives.

In addition to strategic analysis, the IT Business Analyst will occasionally handle setup and configuration tasks within various IT applications and provide ongoing support to end-users. A detailed understanding of at least one of the IT applications used within the organization is essential. This hands-on knowledge will enable the analyst to effectively manage and improve IT solutions that support business operations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirement Gathering and Analysis:

  • Participate in customer meetings to gather and document detailed business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and IT requests for system development, enhancements, or fixes.
  • Analyze existing processes to identify potential areas for improvement or risk mitigation.

Process Design and Optimization:

  • Define and document key business processes, including validations, reporting needs, and label designs.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements by adding controls, validations, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze process performance and propose changes to minimize risks and resolve issues.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Develop and execute SQL queries on Microsoft SQL and Oracle 8i databases to support data analysis needs.
  • Analyze data to ensure adherence to defined processes and identify any deviations.
  • Design and implement tools using Python or similar languages to automate tasks and enhance data analysis capabilities.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Document use cases, test cases, and business requirements efficiently.
  • Create comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all documentation is clear, concise, and technically accurate.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with IT developers, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are fully understood and implemented correctly.
  • Support the training and onboarding of users on new systems and processes.
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of project development from conception through to deployment and post-implementation support.





Job requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • The success of projects and system enhancements based on ‘right first time’ – measuring accuracy of requirements gathering and design.
  • Support Incident KPIs.
  • Team 360-degree feedback.
  • The accuracy, quality, timeliness, and presentation of information given to management.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge Requirements

  • Excellent all-round knowledge of at least one of the Reconext IT applications (ERP, shopfloor, logistics, customer portals, middleware).
  • Proficiency in a scripting language, data analysis, and process automation.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with database management systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Preferably Python.

Experience Required

  • Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or a similar role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or service industry.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years.
  • Experience of Agile methodologies.
  • Training business users.
  • Supporting business users.
