Position Summary
The Automation Engineer supports company performance by designing, installing, optimizing, and adapting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and electronic control systems used to automate and monitor industrial processes. This role works as part of the Engineering team with general direction from an Engineering Manager.


Responsibilities

• Review and understand customer products, failure modes, and repair needs, and develop effective methods for detection and resolution.
• Create technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics for automation controls.
• Design and carry out experiments, analyze results, and present clear recommendations.
• Configure systems using PLC and HMI platforms.
• Model, test, and measure output data to identify performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions.
• Work with a moderate level of autonomy while building expertise in new technical areas.
• Lead assigned projects or project components from concept through completion.
• Plan project timelines and identify critical checkpoints.
• Collaborate with and take direction from senior engineering team members.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers as needed.
• Share concepts, project updates, and results with team members and engineering leadership.
• Communicate effectively with customers and OEM partners on issues related to existing projects.

Job requirements

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, or qualification through the Associate Engineer alternative pathway.
• Two to four years of related engineering experience, with exposure to increasingly complex tasks.
